Questions about the decarbonization plan
What is a decarbonization plan?
It is the path, with numbers, that takes a company from base-year emissions to its reduction target. It combines the projection of emissions growth (BAU), reduction projects and scenarios that show whether the target is reached and how much is left.
Do I need an emissions inventory to start?
Yes. The plan starts from the base-year inventory's emitting activities. If you already use the Climoo inventory, the data flows in directly; if not, activities can be imported from a spreadsheet.
Does the plan support submitting targets to SBTi?
Yes. Targets are set up with the SBTi template, by scope, with submission and target years, and the chosen scenario supports the submission. Climoo's experts are SBTi certified and support the process.
What is the BAU projection?
BAU (business as usual) is how much emissions would grow with no action. In Climoo, each inventory activity is linked to a business variable, such as production, revenue or operating hours, and inherits its growth up to the target year.
How is each project's abatement calculated?
Each project uses a technology from the technology bank and links to the inventory activities it covers. Abatement accounts for the technology's reduction potential and the project's coverage in each year.
Can I compare different scenarios?
Yes. You can build as many scenarios as you need for each target, such as an optimistic and a moderate one, and compare each with BAU and the target, including the residual gap.
